How to Leverage Loose Play

Posted on August 18th, 2010 — in Fun Stuff, Gambling World, Gaming World

Poker online players typically play a tight or loose game, and sometimes something in-between. A loose player plays many hands and raises often. They are more apt to bluff frequently too

Loose play can be intimidating but it can also be a player’s undoing when it runs up against a good hand. The best ways to leverage a loose style of online poker is to:

* Bet aggressively with any kind of hand, from pocket 2s to Aces. When you consistently bet a small pair like a monster, it disguises your hand strength.

* Show your bluffs, even if you lose the hand. Let others know how unpredictable you are so that when you do get a hand to bet and raise, you’ll get callers.

* Don’t limp into pots. Raise when you play a hand and make others afraid to bet ahead of you.

* More often than not, raise when you are in the blind or button positions - it will discourage other players from entering pots.

* Do mix up your play at Everest Poker telecharger. After a several loose hands, tighten up a bit. If you are always loose, at some point a clever tight player is going to set a trap for you. Loose play is unpredictable, but combined with intervals of tight playing, it becomes a more powerful strategy.

Halloween Party Food Tips and Ideas for Your Guests

Posted on August 6th, 2010 — in Fun Stuff, Miscellany, The Virtual Lifestyle

Frightful, kooky, mysterious, gooey and icky! Dish Out guests great halloween party food like a huge brain, peeled grapes as eyeballs and insects at your Halloween party. Of course, we are suggesting playful goodies that appears like body parts and creatures…did we mention Witches’ Fingers and Orange Pepper Jack-O-Lanterns filled with Black & Green Olive Tapenade. Peel a bunch of grapes and add to a bowl. Blind fold guests and ask them to guess the body part using only their hands. A slippery bowl of eyeballs feels gross.

A skewered antipasto pumpkin is a party food item that is easy to make, easy to eat while in costume, and of course–frighteningly yummy! Take an orange or green pumpkin or gourd that is medium to large and is a little soft. Use long wooden skewers and pick out items like cherry tomatoes, salami, mozzarella cheese, different olives, roasted peppers, pepperoncini, etc. Once you have made the skewers you can refrigerate them and then, just before the party, skewer them to the pumpkin. Try a hammer and nail if required to start the holes in the pumpkin for the skewers.

As a fantastic conclusion to your Halloween party, try an “eyeball cake”. To make your own version of this Halloween cake, sculpt a round eyeball shape out of stacked layer cakes or use a 3-D ball-shaped pan to make the cake. Dye frosting to your preferred eyeball colors and make the same eyeball design. To give your cake blood shot eyes, create red lines, you can use gel decorator icing found in the grocery store baking aisle.

Set Betting

Posted on July 7th, 2010 — in Fun Stuff, Gambling World, Gaming World

Set Betting When a Texas Hold’em online poker pocket pair hand completes to three, it’s known as a “set.” This is a strong online poker hand in any poker game, especially because it is hidden. For instance, you are dealt pocket 6s, and the flop brings K-6-2. It is highly likely you are holding the very best hand at this point. It’s not likely anyone will see that 6 on the board as a threat, and anyone holding a King will probably stay in the action. Keep in mind though that sets can be broken by a straight or a flush. When you do hit a set on the flop, then you have to think carefully about how to bet it. Most often it is wise to play a set aggressively. You want to winnow down the number of online poker players who remain for a draw to other cards. A board that is not suited or connected is less threatening to your set. In that case, you can make value bets to keep one or two other players who hit high pair in the hand. When the board is connected or suited, then aggressive betting is always your best option. Play your set hand like it is the best to win. Put other players on a draw on a tough decision for their chips with a big bet. Don’t allow any cheap or free turn and river cards.

PartyGaming and the French Market

Posted on April 30th, 2010 — in Fun Stuff, Gambling World, Gaming World

Those poker players and other gamblers in France will now have more opportunities to play online poker and gamble online. Online gaming group PartyGaming has signed an exclusive deal to provide an online poker service for the French market to PMU, the pari-mutual horse racing company. The two will create a PMU-branded service based on PartyGaming’s poker software. The service will be available when both have obtained the required French licences. The agreement was consistent with the group’s stated strategy of securing a small number of high-value partners in regulated markets. PMU has more than 6.5m customers in France, using 10,000 retail outlets, and is the largest horse race betting organisation in Europe. A new organisation will be created that carries the PMU brand and all the software will be based on that of Party Poker, though it will be updated in order to integrate it with the accounting system currently used by PMU. There will also be a degree of integration with the poker network that party poker already makes available to French players through PartyPoker.fr The proposed new services will become available once the necessary licensees have been obtianned. This is all due to some complications with the current French legislature on the legality of online poker and online gambling in general.

When Board Pairs Top Pair and You Have 2nd Pair

Posted on March 30th, 2010 — in Fun Stuff, Gambling World, Gaming World

You never seen a poker player get too excited about flopping the measly second pair on board in a hand of online poker , though also don’t see them that excited to toss it, especially when the bet is small and the action at the table is short handed. Though clearly nowhere near the nuts, second pair is often better than the random hand assigned to the opponent, and can be tempting to show down even in aggression, hoping that the opponent is drawing and will miss. Holding second pair on the flop and seeing the turn come down to pair the top pair on board often works as a sign that the second pair is indeed the best hand. With a card of a certain rank on board there are only three others left in the deck, and so when the board pairs, there are only two left. That makes it seem quite unlikely that the opponent would actually have it, and therefore makes the second pair look that much better. If the online poker opponent has taken the lead, though, you have to be careful to make sure that they don’t have trips now, or that they are holding an overpair. They may try to slow down if they do have trips, and thus often checking behind can be a safer move than trying to take the paired overcard as a sign that you are good. Continue with care.

STT SnGs

Posted on March 1st, 2010 — in Fun Stuff, Gambling World, Gaming World

A basic online poker strategy for just about all tournament play is to play online poker tight early and open up later when the blinds are higher. This has never been truer for single table sit-n-go games. Here’s the logic. You’re going to get a lot of poker online limpers early on, that limp with garbage since the blinds aren’t so valuable. Well, if they’re not valuable, why limp? Why not wait and catch a premium hand and raise. The next tip you’ll get is that you’re going to want to limp your pocket pairs lower than TT, especially if you’re in position. You do this for set value. Since when you hit your set 1.) it’s a disguised hand and 2.) it’s bound to pay off about 70% of the time unless your facing set over set or set vs. straight or flush. Both of which are highly unlikely on the flop. Finally, you get to the late game. SnGs are easy at the late game, your decisions, they become so simple. If you’re high stacked, you bully. If you’re low stacked, you have only two moves, push fold. If you’re calling 200 with a stack of 1000, then you’re just wasting your time. It’s push/fold all the way. Again, because all-in scares people, and two, you can’t be bluffed off an all-in. Use these simple sit-n-go strategies and you’ll start to see your winnings jump exponentially.

Hand Analysis: Queen-King

Posted on February 19th, 2010 — in Fun Stuff, Gambling World, Gaming World

King queen has a rich history of nickname association, as it is in effect the marriage of the two biggest face cards in the dark, the queen and the king together. It is the largest non-ace connector poker hand, and can be put to use in a wide range of spots. Because when you pair either of the cards you also have a strong kicker to go with it, there is a lot more utility to this hand than the hands close it like K J and K 10, etc. But it is still vulnerable to the very commonly played A Q and A K, as well as very dominated by KK and AA. Because of its wide playability and mix of the two face cards, there are a lot of nicknames for the poker online hand. Mixed marriage (if unsuited) and Marriage (suited) is a weird duality in relation to the suits. Lucky and Ricky, Ferdinand and Isabella, and pretty much any weird celebrity couple might get pulled into the mix. When the hand does not win, it gets called the Divorce hand. Even though these casino pairs and kickers are higher when they get hit, you should still be on the lookout for those dominating hands, but in general betting out and getting called down will result in a win, especially against looser players.

Rookie Recklessness

Posted on January 20th, 2010 — in Fun Stuff, Gambling World, Gaming World

I used to think that new poker players were easy money, but now I know that new poker online players can be a risky proposition. Since they may not know how to play, there’s no telling what they may be doing. They might be betting into a hand with the nuts or nothing more than a high card, mostly because they don’t know any better. You could go all in with pocket Kings, only to be called with a 7-2 that draws into a full boat. Treat a rookie like a reckless player. Since you don’t know how he’s going to be playing (neither does he, by the way), it’s best to treat him like the wild card that he is. Observe him for a while, and see if you can find a pattern of cards that he likes to play. If you find that he likes to play strong online poker hands, play defensively against him-only enter the hand with a strong hand. If he’s willing to play weak hands, consider playing hands that aren’t the strongest-medium pairs may be enough to beat your opponent. At first, caution is your best bet when playing against a rookie, but it shouldn’t take long to figure him out. Once you find a tendency, exploit it until he’s out.

Spread Limit

Posted on December 3rd, 2009 — in Fun Stuff, Gambling World, Gaming World

Spread limit action differs from regular limit or no limit action poker in that, though the amount you can bet on each street is capped, you still have a range of amounts to choose from.

A game, then, where the spread is “one to five limit,” on each street each player can then bet anywhere between one and five dollars. As with other variants of poker online, the spread range often increases on later streets to continue the heightening of action. The title of games where this happens might be “one to five, ten on the end,” which would indicate that in the early rounds a player could bet $1 to $5, while later on the spread increases to $1 to $10.

In these types of games, because of the limiting, it can often be easy to tell the nature of a player’s hand, especially a newcomer, as the patterns of what they do depending on their hand might be more predictable than in a no limit or limit situation.

Another variant, California spread, often includes a very wide range of bets, such as from $1 to $1,000, which essentially then acts as a no limit game, while still avoiding the breaking of the California anti-no limit laws. Remember this when you play poker online.
