You know what you want to pack as far as your wardrobe for your cruise vacation, but here are the little essentials that you might not think about.
One very important thing to pack is a Wall Mount Power Outlet with 3 Outlets. Electrical Outlets in the cruise cabins are very stingy and if you want to dry your hair while your curlers are heating up you will have a problem.
When I pack, I put all of my clothes in Dry Cleaners plastic bags. These will keep your clothes from wrinkling. Pack anything that can spill in zip lock bags. An international power converter and a currency converter will be needed for European Cruises. Some people pack a night light for the bathroom. I have found if you leave the bathroom light on and close the door it is sufficient to guide you there in the middle of the night.
We pack a portable CD player with 20 CD’s and an alarm clock. We pack “two way” radios so we can communicate when we are in different parts of the ship. I like to sleep in when we go to the Caribbean and John likes to get up and have breakfast. He quietly lets himself out of the cabin, and when I get up I call him to let him know its “safe” to come back to the room.
In colder climates you will need a jacket and some long sleeve shirts. I always pack sturdy hiking boots if we go to Europe or Alaska. (Most of the time I wear them on the airplane with slacks since they take up so much room in the suitcase). They come in very handy when touring Europe’s sometimes centuries old cobblestone streets. When you go to Europe you will probably visit churches, and other religious buildings and proper attire must be worn-no sleeveless tops, no shorts and in some places a head covering. In Thailand it was necessary to remove our shoes before entering their holy places. You are in some else’s country and must abide by their rules. No matter where you are headed remember that cabins are small and have little closets and drawers. This is an important fact to know when you are packing.
Bring all of your toiletries, film, in-cabin wine, lotions, medications and dental care products from home. They will be quite pricey on the ship. If you have an on going medical problem have your doctor write a brief medical history so you can supply it to the ships doctor if a problem should arise. You should also pack things like, Alka Seltzer, constipation relief, cough drops, aspirin and band aids. Make up a little first aid kit that suits your needs. Don’t laugh, you will probably be trying new foods, eating more than usual, and you never know how you will react. Those items mentioned above are expensive on the ship.
A few things that are handy are clothes pins for weighing down the shower curtain (the showers are small and the curtain will stick to you when your wet. This really gives me the creeps). A highlighter is great for highlighting the activities on your daily cruise sheet. The night before highlight the events you want to participate in and all you have to do is glance at the sheet to know where you want to be and when. Tell your room steward on the first day to leave you two daily cruise sheets so each of you will have one. This way if one of you wants to go to the wine tasting and the other wants to join in the art auction you both know where and when. Then when it’s over, call each other on the two way radios and meet up for a drink or lunch or whatever. Another valuable little item is “post it notes” if you don’t have the two way radios. Just write on the post it where you are going and at what time and then stick on the outside of the cabin door. Presto your traveling partner knows where you are and when to expect you back. This is great for parents traveling with children.
Cruise Tip: Pack business cards with your email address on them. You meet all kinds of interesting people that you will want to stay in touch with. Some of our best friends are people we met on cruises, friends we continue to cruise with. I like to pack computer generated address labels to make it easy to send postcards.
I read this tip in several cruise reviews. Send a postcard to yourself. I have postcards from all over the world with the local stamps that I have sent to our home during each of our exotic cruises. I have a stamp from the CCCP - that was the USSR- years ago. Its fun and you will always get a chuckle when the post card catches up to you after you are home.
It is a smart thing to bring along your cell phone (which means the charger too). If you incur delays you can call your Travel Agent and have her call the cruise lines. You can make phone calls while you’re leaving port on the ship, and in some islands. The islands I have found to be cell phone friendly are the Bahamas, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Grand Cayman. It’s great for phoning for a cab to the airport, or getting in touch with friends when you disembark. On the islands that do provide service you won’t have to wait in long lines (pay phones on the islands is where the crew keeps in touch with home). It’s just a handy thing to do and would be invaluable in an emergency.
Please don’t forget a good sunscreen if you are going to the Caribbean. If you are from the colder climes and have not seen the sun in awhile you will NEED it. Even in Alaska you have to wear a sunscreen.
Lastly, don’t forget your camera. Put this in your carry on, do not pack it. I have a friend that went to Hawaii and video taped a wedding, packed the camera in her luggage and it was stolen on the way home. If it is digital camera take extra memory cards since you will be taking lots of pictures and the cards are more expensive once you leave home.
Follow this advice and you will have a very enjoyable and comfortable cruise.
Happy Cruising!

If you like listening to the radio, you should know that there are huge changes happening in the radio broadcasting industry and they all center around satellite radio. This new breakthrough will change forever the way that we listen to radio programming. If you haven’t already heard a sample, or experienced satellite radio for yourself, make sure that you do soon.
Currently there are two major providers of satellite radio in North America and that is XM and Sirius. In this article let’s see what you can expect to get when you become an XM radio customer.
First and foremost is the incredible unique programming that XM offers as part of it’s service. With over 100 channels to choose from there is always something good to listen to. But check out some of these one-of-a-kind special broadcasts that is available, many of them only on XM :
* Music shows hosted by Bob Dylan, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Tom Petty, and Wynton Marsalis.
* Public Radio’s Bob Edwards
* Major League Baseball games
* NASCAR
* World Cup
* Good Morning America Radio
* The Ellen Degeneres Show
* Oprah & Friends
and much more. New and fresh programming is being added constantly too.
Now consider that with all that great programming to choose from, most of it is provided absolutely free of all commercials and ads. Who actually likes listening to those anyway? And who likes having their favorite music or talk show interrupted by a person pitching something instead? Since the subscriber base pays for the programming with their $9.95 monthly subscription, there is no need to load up the channels with ads and commercials.
XM also records and transmits all of their radio signals in digital format, so as the listener you get clean clear sound that rivals that of CDs. This allows you to play XM satellite radio over your home or car stereo equipment without any hiss, fade, or loss of sound quality.
And because the radio signal is broadcast from satellites you never have to lose it like you do with standard radio stations. One of the most irritating things about standard radio for travelers is that the sound begins to break up and fade after just 30 miles or so and so you have to keep fishing for new radio stations that have the kind of programming that you like to listen to. But with XM radio that is a thing of the past.
So all-in-all XM satellite radio is inexpensive, high quality radio programming is always on no matter where you go. What could be better?

Search engine optimization experts are having fun with Google. Experts, with DarkBlue.com at the helm, are holding a contest to determine how Google really works. Experts are competing, with the goal of optimizing a webpage for a non-sensical phrase: ‘nigritude ultramarine’.
On May 7th, the day the terms ‘nigritude ultramarine’ was announced, typing the phrase into Google generated no search listings. Search engine optimizers hoping to define themselves as industry leaders are all vying for the number one spot. Others see the contest as an opportunity to test theories and experiment without jeopardizing existing traffic. Some webmasters are leery at staking their professional reputation on a contest with an undefined number of participants.
As an added incentive for search engine experts and webmasters to participate and work their magic, DarkBlue.com is giving away an Apple Mini iPod and a Sony Flat Screen Monitor to anyone who can take their page to #1 for the phrase ‘nigritude ultramarine’. The contest is scheduled to run for two months and will conclude on July 7th, 2004.
Magical Phrase
The phrase generating the frenzy, ‘nigritude ultramarine’, is likely to bring out the best and the worst in optimization tactics. The black magic optimization techniques that are suspected in having sites banned from Google are likely to be exercised, along with tried and true optimization practices. Immediately after the contest was announced experts snapped up hyphenated domain names and began tweaking their text. Many experts were surprised to see how quickly ‘nigritude ultramarine’ made its way into the Google’s listings, with new listings appearing daily it is clear that the contest is well underway.
The experts will be at the mercy of Google and any new algorithms implemented over the course of the next two months. Experts will have to anticipate and update on a regular basis, to ensure that they are able to obtain and retain a strong listings.
Results
The results of the contest are unlikely to have any lasting effects, as Google will likely implement filters that will prevent search engine experts from reaping the rewards of any tactics that are found to be effective. Regardless the sense of adventure and a method of testing Google are intriguing.

Going bald in guys affects eight million in the United Kingdom, the most common kind of hair loss is genetic male pattern baldness. The loss of hair might develop as young as 21 and cause emotional issues. Visit Advanced Hair Studio and get a free hair and scalp check.
Hair loss is regularly hereditary and may hit guys as well as women. The hair loss seems due to the hair follicles on the scalp getting smaller and the hair falling out and never regrowing. Going bald typically follows a balding pattern around the hair line and don’t forget at the middle of your head.
Baldness is not curable and does not directly affect your actual health, although your emotional health might well become affected through the distress.
There are 3 marvellous heavy weight treatments for loss of hair, Minoxidil, Finasteride and Strand by Strand from Advanced Hair Studio, also known as AHS. The 1st primary male pattern baldness treatment is a topical liquid that is applied on the scalp and can be acquired from pharmacies. The hair loss treatment Minoxidil works by reducing and slowing down the speed of hair loss, simply breathtaking. The second treatment Finasteride works by minimising the conversion of the hair loss hormone. The great Strand by Strand method from Advanced Hair Studio, also known as AHS, uses the very latest hair loss medical technology and involves new hair strands growing on the scalp strand by strand over a brief amount of time. With both the Minoxidil and Finasteride treatments they need to be consistently applied and taken for the effects to work.

A recent project was developed using Internet Explorer 5.5 as the browser of choice. Aware of browser incompatibilities, viewing the web page using three other commonly used browsers, Internet Explorer 4.0, Netscape Navigator 6.1, and Netscape Navigator 4.7 revealed some ‘distortions’. This was mainly due to whether or not a particular browser could interpret style sheets, and if so how the style sheets were interpreted.
It was apparent that the page code either needed to be downgraded to the ‘lowest common denominator’ or alternative versions of the web page were needed for Netscape 6.1, Netscape 4.7, and Internet Explorer 4.0. Therefore, a version optimized for Netscape 6.1 was created, as well as another version compatible for both Netscape 4.7 and Internet Explorer 4.0. (This was before Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape 6.2 were available.)
Review of several current web sites and textbooks on Javascript presented different approaches to writing script to first detect a user’s browser, and then depending on the browser and version, to redirect the user to a specific page. In this particular case, none of the recommendations or solutions were what was needed. After a good deal of testing and re-testing, the following script examples were assembled.
Below are five different examples / variations of some Javascript that is to be placed on a page that is optimized for Internet Explorer 5.5. These scripts will then automatically detect the visitor’s browser and version, and then automatically direct the particular browser in one of three directions. They are;
If a visitor is using Internet Explorer 5.5, to remain on the current page.
If a visitor is using Netscape 6.1, to be redirected to a page that has been optimized for Netscape 6.1.
If a visitor is using Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape 4.7, to be redirected to a third page that has been written specifically for either of these browser versions.
Explanatory discussion follows the script examples.

The fax technology was invented on 1948, long before cellular phones and emails. Is this old communication technology still alive and kicking? Well, not really. Actually, it is slowly dying. Find out all about the internet fax - the new metamorphosis of the old fax technology in the next few minutes.
Till now, you had to own a special machine - a fax machine, which was only made to send and receive faxes. Now using internet fax or as some call it email faxing, you need no special device for faxes - You can send and receive faxes via your email.
In fact, think of all the things you needed to maintain and pay for to be able to send and receive faxes: A special fax line, paper, ink cartridges etc. Using internet fax, you need nothing but an internet connection.
Another great advantage of using internet fax is its’ transparency. All your business partners will keep sending you faxes to a fax number. In fact, you can choose a toll free number as your virtual fax number.
The biggest advantage of internet faxing is the ability to manage your time more efficiently. I remember my secretary wandering between her office and the fax machine half a dozen times for a single fax receiving. Not any more, now she receives my faxes through the email service wasting no time. She manages to do more tasks now when running around for faxes have stopped.
More than that, you can check if new faxes have been received from anywhere in the world using the internet fax service. You just have to log on to your web mail service and check for new mails. You will save a lot of precious time by responding a lot faster to any new fax you get. Recently, I have begun reading new faxes using my wireless PDA. I can’t believe that a year ago I still used the big fax machine with all its disadvantages.
911 Corp. has executed a research to find the best internet fax service. Find the results on Internet fax services and information. All about email faxing on http://www.911makemoretime.com/Internet%20fax.htm

There are two types of firewall available to the home computer user. A hardware firewall is a device which sits between your computer and the internet. At home for example it could reside on a broadband router which is used to share your internet connection with a number of computers. One of the advantages of a hardware firewall is that it can be used to protect more than one computer at a time. For this reason hardware firewalls are deployed in corporate networks. For home users who own just one computer a personal firewall is more commonly used and more cost effective.
A personal firewall is a software application that monitors and can block the flow of data between the internet and your computer. The firewall is a key part of your computer security set up. It prevents hackers from gaining access to your computer using an internet connection.
Hackers gain access to your computer through open ports that are used by your computer to communicate with the internet. The most basic firewall programs, like Windows XP’s firewall, monitor and can block “inbound” traffic by closing these ports. If theses ports are closed a hacker cannot access your computer directly via the internet.
More advanced firewall programs like products from ZoneLabs or Symantec also monitor and can block “outbound” traffic. This extra level of security is important and is worth investing in. For example, if malicious software like a Trojan Virus or spyware were installed on your computer without your knowledge the firewall would alert the user when it tried to connect to the internet and prevent it communicating with its host.
A firewall usually works at two basic levels. Firstly, packets of data are analysed based upon IP address and content to see whether they comply with a set of rules which a user can input to. The second level the data is analysed is at the application level. The firewall determines whether an application can send and/or receive data and the port which it should be communicating through.
The firewall “learns” through continuous interaction with the user. It seeks user approval from programs when they first come in to contact with the firewall. Most firewalls also allow the user to allow or block applications through a stored list of program which can be accessed through the firewall’s user interface.
There are a number of sites which will help test your firewall’s effectiveness. A number of these sites are run by security software vendors so it is recommended you test using an independently run site to double-check any results. One of the best independent test sites is run by The Gibson Research Corporation. They offer a free test called “Shield Up!” which can be found at their website - http://www.grc.com. The test checks a number of well-know and vulnerable ports on your computer and then provides some useful additional information to help improve your security while online.
It is important to remember that the firewall is only part of your computer security and does not negate the need for a good anti virus solution, a spyware removal tool and a degree of caution / common on sense on the type of websites a user visits. For example, the firewall will not scan for viruses or remove them from your computer.

Great Plains Purchase Order Processing (POP) module makes up one-third of the core Great Plains Inventory and Order Processing group (the other two being Inventory Management and Sales Order Processing). POP seamlessly integrates with other Great Plains modules (GL, PM, FA, SOP, etc.) allowing for a tightly-knit information system. Gone are the days when invoices from purchases have to be asked from other departments. Great Plains POP module empowers its users by allowing access to mission-critical information including audit control and purchase activity analysis (with proper security permission, of course).
Great Plains prides itself of being able to empower its users in streamlining business processes by being in control. It also improves accuracy and increases employee productivity by automating routine purchasing tasks. POP lets you establish long term contracts using blanket purchase orders to record and track extended purchases, giving you greater negotiating power with your vendors and simplifying contract purchase processes. The latest versions include capabilities to accurately record and track landed costs as well as auto-generation of purchase orders.
Features:
• Multiple Ship-To Addresses - Enter a ship-to address for each line item on a purchase order, reducing documentation for items shipped to multiple addresses.
• Mapping - Map purchase order line numbers to line items, automatically, to expedite purchase orders.
• Alerts- Establish alerts that prevent employees from issuing invalid purchase orders.
• Flexible Control of Processes - Control purchasing processes with cost variance tracking, easy transfer of information, receiving/invoicing against multiple purchase orders, comprehensive receipt information, posting, and 1099 reporting.
• Line-Item Level Visibility - Manage purchase orders at the line-item level with automated roll-up of similar items, free on-board (FOB) designation, individual line item release to vendor dates, and multi-site delivery.
• Purchase Order Tracking - Get instant answers with complete tracking of open or historical purchase order and receiving documents by order number, item number, or date.
• Audit Control- Maintain audit control with cancelled item tracking, line-item ordering and status information, document revision tracking, and customized landed cost definition.
• Multi-Currency Transactions - Enter, track, and report multicurrency transactions in the originating or functional currency, translated using exchange rate tables, with special functionality for European Union customers.
• Drop Shipment - Drop-ship orders directly from supplier to customer and bypass the typical inventory update process.
• Reports - Analyze purchase activity with Purchase Order Status, Invoice Cost Variance, and posting reports. Integrate with Microsoft Great Plains modules such as Crystal Reports for further report flexibility and power.
• Requisition Management for Microsoft Business Portal - Eliminate paper-based requisitions by creating requisitions via a Web browser, with automatic approval routing and e-mail notification. View purchase requisitions in process as they route from employees to supervisors and purchasing, with customized tracking and validation of commitments against budgets.
• PO Generator - Automate purchasing through order point or min/max settings. PO Generator determines quantities needed based on the stock situation in relation to the stock goals and generates a suggested purchase order that can be reviewed and edited prior to release. Also, automatically create purchase orders in response to quantity shortages on customer orders and manage these documents from within POP.
